Pheasant Berry (Leycesteria)
Thanks to SilverLady for telling me what this plant is when she blipped it the other day! It's in a front garden in our road and I had just spotted it and wondered what it was and found the answer! It's very unusual when you look at it closely - it grows little white flowers and then in grows on down to another layer and another layer and then berries form in each layer after the flowers. Apparently game birds like to eat the berries and this is why it's called Pheasant Berry. For all I know it might be quite a common plant, but I'd never seen one before :-)
It's been bucketing with rain most of the day and is very windy, so plant photography isn't easy today. I was going to go out to the shops but have decided against (I think). Have got some ironing done and cooked a Toad-in-the-Hole for lunch which was very nice. Bread out of the freezer ready for tea, so I don't even have to go out to buy a loaf...yes, I think I'll stay indoors!!
