Festive Footsie
An unusually relaxed Christmas Day for me. I fed the garden birds. A magpie with an injured leg visited, a coal tit was calling from the Christmas tree and a thrush singing in the wooded area of the garden.
I walked to place a basket of bulbs next to our late neighbour's memorial oak tree. I added the name of my neighbour herself to the list of people we remember from this family. A winter flowering cherry on the bank of the lake was in bloom and the pair of Canada geese were in residence. (Extras)
We had a lovely time at my daughter's. My son-in-law had made some beautifully neat and tasty amuse-bouches, or itso-titsos as we call them. It was so nice sitting and relaxing, glasses of champagne in hands, unwrapping the thoughtfully chosen gifts. The meal itself was an absolute triumph, set off by the beautiful winter birds table decorations. I made the pudding and a trifle topped by winter birds in fondant. (Extras)
MrQ coped much better than I thought he would. He ate his meal with gusto. His mother used to say that she kept a good table and my daughter and I try to keep up the tradition. It was lovely to spend time with our granddaughter and grandson. Mish behaved perfectly. My main image shows my granddaughter playing footsie with her.
