Receding

The tide was so far out when Joe and I visited Mersehead today that the sea was barely visible. One or two other people, mostly with dogs, were on the beach, but we had most of it to ourselves. Jess was very happy - the best Christmas present she could have is a walk by the shore, preferably with plenty of sand.

Joe wanted to see the dead dolphin which Fi and I had found a few weeks ago. (See extra). This beach view reminded me of an excellent book which was given to me by Sarah and Chris and which I have just finished - “A Flat Place” by Noreen Masud.

There were so many barnacle geese in the fields behind the beach! All wintering here from Svalbard.

We had a lovely FaceTime with my brother Andy, who is visiting Ewa’s family in Florida.

I cooked tea for the three of us - tried a new way of cooking red cabbage, sliced and roasted with chestnuts, cumin and lime - will definitely be making that again.

The sea air has made us all sleepy…Happy Christmas, blippers!
