A Canadian over the Pacific
MONDAY
A busy morning all around. I headed to Rhuddlan for my 11:00 haircut with Catherine at Headmasters, followed by a quick stop at a packed Sainsbury's for a few last-minute items. I parked in the B&Q car park, zipped around the store, and then paid for my basket at the Customer Services desk to avoid the long queues at the tills and self-service.
Next, I drove over to Denbigh to collect a prescription and fuel up for the car to get me through the Christmas period. I also made a quick stop at Tweed Mill Outlet, which was advertising "Sale Now On," but almost everything was still at full price and the item I was after hadn't been reduced.
In the afternoon, I checked the tyre pressures on all three cars. I topped up my own tyres, as I'll have a full car when I return from the airport tomorrow. I also polished the other side of Harriet's car now that I've turned it around in the garage.
We spent the evening watching Christmas quizzes and Strike.
On the other side of the world, Harriet and George have commenced their journey back to the UK. They took off from Auckland at 15:38 NZ Time (02:38 here) and crossed the International Date Line. They went back in time and arrived in Los Angeles at 06:53 Pacific Coast Time (14:53 here), where they have booked a lounge with complimentary food, drinks, and showers. Their flight to Heathrow is at 17:15 PCT, which will be early morning tomorrow here.
The photo was sent to me by Harriet. It shows Maple Pinecone crossing the Pacific on American Airlines.
