Gained a day ..... and more
I have gained a day ..... I mean, seriously—when does this ever happen?
We’re all so good at losing days, right?
Time flying by in a blur of to-dos and last-minute chaos.
But gaining a day?
That’s almost unheard of!
Since arriving in Berlin last Tuesday, it’s been non-stop:
Prepping for Christmas
Finishing up with client work
Multiple shopping trips to make sure we have everything (because here in Germany, shops close from lunchtime on Christmas Eve until the 27th!).
Catching up with Berlin friends I hadn’t seen in ages.
Oh, and let’s not forget: Christmas Eve is the big day in Germany! It’s when we celebrate and exchange presents, not the 25th like in Scotland (and other places).
This morning, I woke up thinking:
“Wow, we’re actually ready for tomorrow.”
The shopping is done, the house is stocked, and everything feels... under control (?!).
Even our quirky little Christmas tree is decorated.
I took a deep breath and thought:
“This feels amazing. We’re ready for a chilled Christmas Eve tomorrow.”
And then it hit me...
Christmas Eve isn’t tomorrow. IT’S THE DAY AFTER!
Wait, what? I’ve gained a whole day?!
Not only am I ready ahead of time (a miracle in itself), but now I have a bonus day to actually relax before the celebrations begin.
A chance to slow down, soak in the holiday magic, and just be.
How cool is that????
This above is the post I wrote for social - as this was summing the day up ..... I could not believe we had another day between today and Christmas!
We walked over the flea market in the morning, then dropped into an exhibition of the lady pictures next to the square.
Had a coffee at Chapter One then walked the Kiez - some shops were open.
Met a Scottish couple at the Photoautomat and watched their cases while they got their photos taken.
Back home made a dough for baking cookies tomorrow, did some marketing chores then we went to Mokkabar for dinner.
And there is another day tomorrow ... wooohooo
