Our Dracaena marginata – Dragon tree
This plant lives n a north facing room with no direct sunlight, and after many years it is suddenly dropping some of its lower leaves. I've grown this dracaena for at least fifteen years, possibly longer. It has been a wonderful plant, growing slowly and to form,. It has always retained many leaves on all its stems, until now.
I thought I should bring it into the much brighter dining room and check on it and see how it responds to the mid winter light, possibly even the weak direct rays of the sun which shine through this south facing patio doorway.
I know it needs repotting at the same time as having its long roots trimmed. Bringing it into this room has made me want to learn about how best to care for it. I've already found out that in their wild native state they can group up to fifteen feet tall. They originate from Madagascar, a large island in the Indian Ocean some way off the coast of Mozambique in southern Africa.
The open book is one of Helena's cookery books. I'm vaguely going to follow a Christmas Cake recipe to produce a gluten free version for Helena.
