A Walk in the Park
Pinner Village Gardens, the park behind the house where I grew up, is a lovely green space, a great local resource. Despite the loss of many big Elm trees that I remember from my childhood, it's still well populated with trees old and new. Once in the council's care and locked at night, it is now cared for by a community group who have breathed much new life into what had become a sad shadow of former glory. I really like these iron installations just inside the main gate. Jamie and I walked the dogs around the park this morning.
A more productive day on the whole. This evening I baked St Anns biscuits, a recipe my mum's mum picked up long ago .... when she worked at a school called St Anns. A Christmas tradition when I was young, one I have continued through most of the intervening years. Some buns went in the oven as well. This afternoon we had a mini family get-together with B & S and their partners coming over. A chance to reminisce a little and discuss funeral plans. It was good to see them.
Tomorrow, after dropping Jamie at the station, I am off to Birmingham to collect Ruth and bring her back to London for a few days.
