Why as a townie am I trying to play at small holder glut?

These are some of my neighbours gooseberries which she asked me to pick . Chutney was my first thought but it smells the house of vinegar for days after. Then I thought jam but would it set?
I don't have a big freezer so can't store much and since I have put some aside for friend there isn't any room left.

So, you ask, what is in the jar? Gooseberries, sugar. , GIN! Oh I do hope I haven't ruined a bottle of gin. Some months ahead to wait and shake and see!
