Very Rare
One of my blip list today. A very rare postbox.
We drove out this afternoon just because we could, and to get my blip.
On a busy main road in Middlesbrough, this is an Edward VIII pillar box.
He only had a brief reign with less than a year before he abdicated in December 1936 so he could marry an American divorcee Wallis Simpson. Many of the original postboxes made were either converted to the following King George V, or removed altogether. It’s thought that probably around 100 remain now.
A close up of the cipher in extras.
