Skelton Beck
An unexpected dog walk for me this morning as Callum was not feeling up to it.
I chucked them in the car and drove down to the Catnab car park by Skelton Beck and we walked through towards the valley gardens for a bit.
On the way back I chatted to a chap with a decent looking camera slung round his neck, as you do. It was just across the beck and where I took the picture of the SMR (Saltburn Minature Railway) building with the egret in the foreground. He then got set up with his tripod and I apologised to him in case my two little hounds had scared the bird. (It didn’t thankfully).
Anyway, we got to talking and of course I explained I only had my phone camera with me. Usually I do take the little compact with the decent zoom.
He went on to say he’d seen a kingfisher further upstream but it was on the move all the time.
By the time I got back to the car and was about to drive off, the kingfisher had caught his fish and was sitting there nice as you like eating.
I was a good distance away, but zoomed out full stretch on the phone and got a few shots. This is the best of them, slightly blurry, but I’m chuffed nonetheless.
This afternoon back into town for a podiatrist appointment and then Sainsburys which thankfully was not too busy.
