Depth Gauge
While Mr Flum was in the car with D, the salesman, trying to improve the dash cam reception, I wandered down the nearby steps to the Eddleston Burn to photograph the depth marker opposite.
Then I pottered downstream, below the bridge and discovered another such marker (main photo).
There may be a good explanation for it but the two read very different depths, mainly because the upstream one the zero is fixed at about 25 cms above the waterline (see extra), while downstream suggests a current depth of 25 cms.
I'm sure you can read this if you look carefully in large!
It was not possible to fix the dashcam so we will be returning, but today continued to the town for coffee and a look in the charity shops. On the way home we bought our turkey and various bits and bobs with suitable use-by dates for Christmas meals, hoping for only one more foray into the mass of humanity for those items that need to be fresh.
