It’s been a beautiful sunny day here though the wind was chilly.

My walk over to the south side of the village was only 3 miles but I did get cardio with the hills. It was nice to meet Val’s sister on the bridge and then Janet. I delivered the condolence card and the last of the Christmas cards. I even called in to the gym to enquire about rejoining. It’s annoying as before Covid there used to be a pool and it was open a lot longer but I’m concerned that I should be doing strength training so maybe I should give it a go. I’m not keen on rigid timetables or routines - when it was open all day I could go when I had time but if I rejoin I’ll need to organise myself to commit to certain times.

The family had a wonderful time at the very glamorous wedding yesterday. They all looked great, Ella in her £17 summer sale dress and Nathaniel in his much more expensive suit, bow tie, waistcoat - and his hair in a neat ponytail. Today it’s the after wedding pool party. They are loving every minute. Tomorrow they go to a cottage near the coast where they’ll explore that area.

The forecast is now for a snowy week at our ski resort. This is good news for the resort but I won’t ski if the visibility is poor. Our bags are packed. We’ll meet the others at Ibis at Birmingham airport tomorrow. It’ll be hardly worth going to bed.

I’m halfway through The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store but I won’t bother finishing it. Don’t shoot me down those who loved it but I’d be interested in why you liked it. There’s too much religion, repetition and sentimentality for my taste.

Edinburgh friends - any recommendations for a veggie friendly good restaurant for a January lunch? We like Banns but it might be closed for renovation work. We’ll be around that area then west end as we’ll be taking a friend to Modern Gallery so Stockbridge could work.
