The Cutting…..

A few months ago, when we were cutting back the hydrangeas, I placed a small stem of one into a little watering can. There, I let it be, except for topping up the water from time to time. Then a few weeks ago I noticed some buds on the stem. I left it alone and gradually a small floret formed and bloomed. The floret is no more than two inches across and the tiny flowers are exquisite. I suspect it is one of the varieties known as “You and Me Together“. I will, in due course, be gifting this magical wee stem to a family member.
