Christmas community lunch
A well run, smooth operation orchestrated by a small group, the main photo is one of them, and my favourite picture of today, what a great smile.
An early start to finish of yesterday’s food preparations, the three hours flew by and we headed off to the village hall armed with trays and trays of food, on arrival others were seen carrying in dishes and trays, what a lovely feeling to be part of such a group.
It is 25 years since my first entry as a volunteer to the community Christmas lunch, today was the first time to sit and eat with everyone and I have to say it was most enjoyable. As always a good chat with those I know well and with others not seen before. Also to hear what folk had to say about the event, all positive. The overall comment was this was the best one, I have to agree.
It is amazing the number of people who turn up to volunteer, to help in any number of ways and a good feeling to see ‘the younger generation’ coming in as we did all those years ago. Also sad to remember the 70 and 80 years old of that time who are no longer with us. Sad in more way than one. Will leave you to ponder that one.
Before the arrival of our guests a quick photo of the tables in the hall which looked splendid, the photo doesn’t do it justice. A good, good day!
