Christmas food long ago….

This morning I first went to our local garage to have my car battery checked as it’s not been starting very well recently. Lucky I did as when checked it came up as ….needs replacing
Good they had one in stock and fitted immediately. Great that I didn’t have to book it in and the owner came and did it for me…..unlike most dealerships..

Despite it being gloomy and cold I decided to cycle to Ham House to see the Christmas displays on the house and check out any trails for children. This is the best room…the kitchen. Some volunteers had made food items which would have been eaten in 17C when this house was built. Some very detailed work eg biscuits looking like pineapples and mushrooms made from pastry. The ‘tiles’ are replicas of those in the house and they are a sort of biscuit with icing and decoration. However the candles had batteries! Not 16C. I’m always amazed how they could work in dark rooms with just candle light. This kitchen is partly below ground so no big windows.
There were some nice Christmas trees in various rooms but the ‘trail’ was simply some pictures of cats for children to spot…? I only spotted 2. Not very exciting so we will not be taking the grandchildren there.

It was. Christmas jumper day at the twins school so my husband and I put ours on for pick up time! They wanted to go on the trampoline again and had to be called in when it got dark!

I’m planning to watch Sports Personality of the Year….interesting it is being presented by 3 women this year…However I do not rate Alex Scott at all…..no Gary Linneker.
