Billie

MONDAY

Firstly, a big thank you to all my Blip friends for all the hearts, stars and supportive comments on my 12th Blip birthday yesterday. I have been propelled to second place on the popular page.

This  afternoon took me to St Asaph and Rhyl on a few errands for paint, a 6' light tube and other bits and pieces.

On passing the Rhyl Marine Lake Miniature Railway, I couldn’t help but notice Billie, one of the locomotives, peeking out of the engine shed. The engine was in full steam, getting ready for the Santa Specials that run daily up until Christmas Eve.

Rhyl is not the most affluent of the coastal resorts and it’s heartwarming to see the railway come alive for the holidays. The other side of the station is  decked out like the North Pole, with twinkling lights, trees and Christmas characters. A  magical sight for the little ones. At the moment, there are two trains running each day, but from Friday, that will increase to seven. And all the trains are fully booked right up to Christmas Eve.

It’s wonderful to see such success, especially since the railway is run entirely by volunteers.
