Friends who are family...

Or friends are the family you choose for yourself and we chose well :-)

Part of the joy of two childhood best friends marrying two childhood best friends, is we are as close as family.  This means when they visit they are pretty self sufficient and even pour us drinks :-) Perfect!

Poor Penny isn't well so Alan was left in our care from lunch time till 7pm.  He's had a busy week so all he wanted to do was watch Christmas films starting with Polar Express and The Claus Family (twice!) 

We were supposed to have D's birthday dinner with Agnes and Adrian at the Golf Club but it was a party night so we decided to eat in and have a cosy night watching the final of Strictly.

I made the very luxurious Spuntino Mac & Cheese, delicious but not a dish for every week as it's very indulgent.  Enjoyed it with salad and garlic bread.  Apple crumble for dessert.

We ended up sitting at the table chatting for ages and didn't get settled in the living room to watch the strictly final till 11pm!  Too late to light the fire.

We really enjoyed the final and think it was one of the best.  Very happy with the winners :-)

Finally headed to bed just before 2am.
