La Maison
We got a bit of a shock just before we came away from Barcelona to see that La Maison our favourite, comfort restaurant (food, location, and well-known-to-us waiters) had closed last April, apparently for good. We always take such news particularly hard but recognised it was probably better to find out in advance than turn the corner and find it boarded up.
Turns out it had been closed for a complete renovation and the kitchen, loos and terrace reopened three days ago, so turning the corner brought a very welcome surprise! The new dining room is still a couple of months off.
The staff (all older men) are back after their long lay off and there were many warm embraces as other clients from before returned to the fold!
The feijoada was great quantity-wise, but the meat was a little short of tops, so the search goes on to find our Triangle Place replacement...see last Saturday!
We also like the place because it shelters us well from suddenly Rio downpours...see extra!
For our record, Dd was hard at it at her desk from 9am to 4pm doing her Tokyo Teens marking to beat a somewhat unfairly brought forward deadline that has been advanced from next Friday to Monday or Tuesday! I spent the same time at my desk doing the twice a year executive circle creation exercise that splits 35 people in to six circles…more on this tomorrow!
