If It Were Not....

..For the Birds...I would seldom have a blip to post!

Busy day today. I was hosting our little book club this morning and providing lunch. It had been quite some time since I had done any hosting of anything, so all the preparation was much more daunting than usual..

There was much running about ..starting with putting out the garbage bins before dawn in gale force winds...and then rescuing them later from various neighbours' lawns.

Garbage bins having been found and returned to the shed, it was time to pick up last-minute goodies at the bakery, clear the living room furniture of afghans-as- cat-hair-catchers, and get busy setting a Christmassy table.

Then of course, there was the usual glitch ( there is always at least one!) in setting up the Zoom meeting for our friend Pat who moved to Nova Scotia..and who was to be here in person except for a hassle with plane tickets..(she will arrive tomorrow)

Of course, it had been much ado about nothing as all went smoothly once we had the right time zone on the Zoom meeting...and my friends had their coffee in hand...

The book was The War We Won Apart and surprisingly it did elicit a lot of discussion..from Camp X where WW2 spies were trained here in Whitby, to the unacknowledged contribution that women made in combat, to the role of women after the war... Reviews were mixed..We each had something we liked, but something we did not... which is always good for discussion!

So the day was a success and after all that unaccustomed effort, a nap was in order.

And oh yes, I forgot to take a blip photo! But Madame Cardinal made a serendipitous appearance before the light died...whew!
