'A Christmas Trip to the Cinema'
Iin what is beginning to become a rather special tradition, my son Oliver and his partner invited MollyG and me to the cinema to see an old Christmas movie.
Last year, it was 'It's a Wonderful Life' at the Cameo in Edinburgh, and this year, it was 'The Bishop's Wife' at GFT in Glasgow.
Both films, in black and white, were made in the immediate post-war period and, at a superficial level, are very similar. Angels (indistinguishable from humans) pop in and out while helping to sort out the mortal protagonists over Christmas, and both films have Scrooge-like characters, too. Still, the angels themselves couldn't be more different.
We've agreed to do the same again next year; ideally, a Christmas film we could see in a cinema, with a bite to eat and a chat afterwards.
Any suggestions?.
