What bed shortages?
Today I got to see the result of many months of emails, phone calls, negotiations, promises - made and held... or not, meetings - virtual or in person, and many many spreadsheets.
Over the past year I saw deadlines being set, and slip, and being reset, and re-slip, and being re-reset. You get the gist. August became October, which turned in December and now March is being mentioned.
Today I got to see what quite a substantial amount of money buys you.
Today I got to see top of the range equipment, all commissioned, tested and ready.
Today I saw a shiny new six slices toaster that had yet to toast its first slice of bread. A fly killer in need of flies. Three pristine fridges ready to house perishable goods.
Today I saw a well-known urologist drool over a brand new 150W holmium laser.
Today I did not see patients getting treatment.
But that day will come. Eventually. And then it will all be worth it.
