WIDE WEDNESDAY - RED
As it is now only 14 days until Christmas Day and as red is one of the colours of Christmas, I knew immediately I saw the theme for today that this would be my Blip!
Don’t panic - me being “on theme” for challenges for several weeks could change at any time!
I have a busy day ahead - I need to write a few more cards, this afternoon we are going for our six-monthly dental appointment, and then this evening I am out for a Worship Group practice for our Service of Carols by Candlelight on the 22nd December - and in between I have to cook our evening meal - so as Mr. HCB sits and does his jigsaw, because he can’t go out into the garden, I decided to get my Blip done early. That sentence is far too long, but I’m sure you get my drift!
This beautiful bauble, which has its own special padded red box, was given to me many years ago by Di, the teacher in whose class I volunteered and you may remember that I knitted a Nativity set for her class. You can see it here - I can’t believe it was 11 years ago - those years have gone by so quickly!
When Di changed schools a few years later, she rang me and asked if I would mind if she took the Nativity set with her. By this time, I had stopped volunteering at the school, but was happy for her to take it. That Christmas, she messaged me and asked if I would like to go in to see the pupils in her new school as they wanted to thank me for the Nativity Set - how kind is that? They made me a lovely card to say “Thank You” and they all said how much they enjoyed being able to play with the various characters in the Nativity.
A lot has happened in those years - getting involved in our new Church - although I used to go to this Church when I was much younger - including volunteering at the Community Fridge and now delivering Bags of Hope and helping in other ways within the community, which is a real privilege.
As Christians, and in spite of all the materialism around, Mr. HCB and I want to keep Christ in Christmas - this quote from Steve Maraboli tells us how we can do it.
“Want to keep Christ in Christmas?
Feed the hungry,
clothe the naked,
forgive the guilty,
welcome the unwanted,
care for the ill,
love your enemies,
and do unto others
as you would have done unto you.”
