Roll With It

Last Full Day

In Scotland.
Sam, Josh and I spent it in Elgin, coffee and cake before we started with a walk around the town. A remarkable amount of the original buildings remain outwardly unaltered.
We made our way to the cathedral, it looked closed off to the public but Sam noticed a door marked entrance and we were in.
Scaffolding showed that conservation was underway but still plenty to see, also good to see was that traditional skills were being taught and used. In today’s world where the replacement stonework could be so easily fabricated by machine it is still being undertaken by masons and apprentices.
Each floor of the right hand tower had a display and you can just make out the viewing area on top, which despite being ‘uncomfortable’ at heights I went up to, spectacular views. A couple of displays in the left hand tower on the way down before exploring the outside.
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
Having collected Tiana from work we headed home to Forres via the supermarket, pizza for dinner.
Some packing ready for an early getaway tomorrow morning.
