Rhyl
SUNDAY
The worst of Storm Darragh had passed this morning leaving a trail of destruction in its wake with roads closed due to fallen trees and flooding and some buildings damaged, including the historic kiosks on Llandudno pier.
The rain had stopped but the winds were still strong this afternoon with a northerly breeze whipping up the waves on the Irish Sea and causing a sandstorm on the promenade in Rhyl. The bowling green, which is close to the seafront, was covered in sand and resembled a desert.
It was a toss up between a couple of events this evening. I gave the "Ghost Stories around the Fire" in the community pub a miss and headed down to Denbigh to see the Illuminated Tractor Run which involved a procession of around 40 tractors decked out in lights and other festive trimmings as they toured the area raising money for local charities (see extra)
