Wild
SATURDAY
It’s been a wild day with Storm Darragh raging outside from morning until night.
I didn’t even attempt to find a Parkrun this morning—most of the local events were cancelled anyway - and travel wasn’t easy as many lanes were blocked by fallen trees and debris or by flooding. In Llandudno, a 150-year-old ice cream kiosk on the pier was ripped from its foundations and has disappeared with bits turning up on the beaches and another kiosk overturned in the 90+ mph winds.
We decided to stay in, turn up the heating, and binge-watch six episodes of Black Doves on Netflix. It’s a British spy thriller starring Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, and Sarah Lancashire, which was released just two days ago. Gripping stuff once you have started watching it.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, Harriet and George have been enjoying a thermal spa day at Hanmer Springs in New Zealand. Apparently, they’ve been experiencing 68 mph winds as well. But unlike the UK, where Storm Darragh is causing a bit of drama, Harriet says, “No one is bothered by the winds here!”
