Relaxed

3years 280days

We both slept very soundly at Grandads last night, and didnt actually wake until 730. A reasonably leisurely start & breakfast before we all headed down to the beach, missy and I on the bike and Granny & grandad not far behind in the van. We all enjoyed some time just watching the sparkling water, the boats, the gulls before we walked onto the sands. Katie's always loved the beach, but this year she is infinitely more confident and creative in her play. Lots of beautifully adorned sandcastles, writing in the sand using her first set of sand flags. A little paddling.

We walked up from the sand to the Harbour View cafe. Its right in the middle of the fishing pier. Every seat in the cafe has a view, either of the harbour or of the bay. We started outside with a view over the harbour, the lighthouse and the Scarborough old town, overlooking my first home and my father's first home. A very lovely spot that I hadnt previously known about.

After a very pleasant brunch we headed to the train. We said goodbye and made our way back home. We went straight to the swimming pool from the station. Katie did lots of swimming, and a good amount of playing too. A bit of a "Dear Diary" moment - Katie had her first proper swim in the big pool. She wasnt sure at first, but very soon had a go. She 2 widths of back stroke, in water out of her depth (with Mama right there just in case of course).

Quick showers and dressing before we made it home just as friends of ours arrived. They brought their 3 children, one of whom is my youngest goddaughter. We had planned to go to the park but it rained heavily just minutes before they arrived. The children did lots of hide and seek, played with the bunnies and in the (now sunny) garden, ate lots and made lots of noise music. A fun day!!
