The Navy Gets Everywhere
Back to Inverness on a cold and dark day.
We started with one of the best coffees I’ve had in a long time before heading to Leaky’s Second Hand Books reportedly the largest in Scotland, maybe the U.K. For a book lover it was wonderful, huge log burner, loads of home made shelves over two floors full of books, so many they were stacked on the floor.
I came away with just one!
Next stop the Inverness Museum, museums aren’t for every one but I’m with my daughter Sam, I love them and find them interesting.
Walking around the galleries I stopped to look at this ‘stone’ and was struck by the description by the side of it;
“Inverness Museum holds a copy of the Brodie Stone, the real stone stands in the grounds of Brodie Castle in Moray. For many years however it stood in the village of Dyke where it was and is known as the Rodney Stone.
Gifted to Vice Admiral Rodney for his victory at Battle of Saintes off Dominica before being returned”
The Navy gets everywhere.
In the evening I accompanied Joshua & Tiana to ‘The Gathering’ at RAF Lossiemouth. It consisted of a religious video followed by a discussion then some food and a coffee. I found it really interesting and quite reassuring, ‘Safe Spaces’ were not a thing during my day.
Todays extras include a photograph of the base ‘Gate Guardian’, again not a thing in my day.
