Storm Darragh
Confined to barracks all day due to the storm. Lots of branches (from the trees on the avenue) on the road, our gardens and drive. The wind has been wild since last night and has not eased as was predicted. It's still blowing non-stop with some very strong gusts at 21:45.
I woke in the night due to the storm but no idea what time it was as it was dark so I rolled over! I didn't go to bed till about 2am - there was no point going earlier as I didn't think I'd sleep due to the storm. Anyway, we were up having a few drinks and watching a film.
Someone I know has a tree blown over in her back garden which has broken the fencing. There are trees down here and there in our town, roads were closed due to flooding. I am hoping this wind drops before bedtime.
Tomorrow is supposed to be decent weather - we'll see!
In a lot of ways we have been fortunate - a few things blown over and the roof sounding like it's lifting off but no major damage (touch wood) whereas a man died up in Longton when a tree fell on his van.
I've not really seen much on the news, mostly fallen trees blocking roads.
Hopeful for a calmer and drier day tomorrow.
