Old office
We pass this building near Blackfriars Bridge in London whenever we travel from Edinburgh to West Sussex to visit my in-laws. I have often thought about snapping a picture of it through the train window. I finally managed to do so today. The building is important to me because I worked here on secondment in 2006. I loved this job, and I would have permanently left academia for it had the role not been London-based.
It felt like the journey passed in the blink of eye because I was so focussed on a conference paper due for submission by a deadline next Monday. Apart from moving my seat to a quieter carriage for a period from Newcastle after a gaggle of middle aged women in sparkly clothing carrying opened bottles of Prosecco boarded the train, I was able to concentrate fully on my writing in my booked seat. (Mr hazelh stayed put the whole time, surrounded by the loud ladies. I wondered if they might try to engage him in conversation when I disappeared, but happily they ignored him.)
We're now being very well looked after by Mr hazelh's parents. I have also seen the fully restored car car. It is amazing. My father-in-law has fixed the plaque to the base, and I will almost certainly blip it with Xander tomorrow.
Exercise today: none.
