Last of the Line?

Crocus laevigatus, a form from the Aegean island of Tinos.  It's the last of the so called Autumn Crocuses to flower for me, actually it's early this year, it can be in flower in January here.   In the cold frame today I noticed the first of the Spring Crocus ready to flower too.   In truth, in cultivation, as in the wild, there are crocuses in flower every month during autumn, winter and early spring.   In the wild there are species in flower somewhere every month for the year.

I woke with a headache and a streaming cold, the annoyances of which have continued all day.   It was always going to be a quiet day so spending most of it resting will have helped.  I did give Meg a short run at the ball field and post a parcel to Ruth - stuff that got left in the car after our multiple loading and unloadings the week.  This evening I dropped in to the staff Christmas social at work for a little while which was nice.  I work with a lot of lovely people.

Definitely another rest day tomorrow.  We're in the red warning zone for wind which is just getting noisier as I type.   With luck I might sleep through the worst of it.

News from the hospital is that Mum is trying to talk when she's awake and she has been awake a bit more.  Early days still but a glimmer of comfort.
