Life is a Challenge!

I GUESS IT'S BETTER TO BE...

...armless than legless - not that I have ever been legless in the true meaning of the word - because I can’t remember the last time I had an alcoholic drink.  However, after we had been to Jack’s this morning - and there is a shot of Mr. HCB down at the bottom of my collage - we wandered along to our favourite charity shop, DEBRA, and watched while two of the lady volunteers wrestled with the arms of the mannequins in the window.

I have said before that their window displays are wonderful but when we were in there this morning, the ladies were discussing the fact that the mannequins looked a little drab, so they wanted to make them look more seasonal.

In the process, they had to disarm the mannequins and it just struck me as funny that the arms were lying on the floor, so I quipped to the ladies that it was “better to be armless than legless”, which made them laugh.  It’s just a shame that this isn’t Silly Saturday!

It’s like having friends in there and we love going in to see what is on offer - although Mr. HCB was a bit upset when he was given one of his books back that he had dropped off earlier.  It was a hardback book and he was told that they aren’t taking hardback books any more, so we had to bring it home again - thank goodness he got rid of all his Jack Higgins hardback books some years ago!

Once home, I had some of the Butternut Squash and Parsnip soup I had made last night and then decided that I would walk to our local pharmacy to collect my eye drops.  There was a chilly wind, but I soon got into my stride and enjoyed the walk, so by the time I got back, although it was raining, I had done almost 7,000 steps, and was happy with that.  I must confess I was a little disappointed this morning when I got weighed because I am just ½lb from my target weight.  Tomorrow we are going out for an Afternoon Tea, and then out to friends on Sunday for a buffet tea, so hope I will make it next week!

Hope you are all battened down before Storm Darragh comes through.  Take care and stay safe.  M xx
