The plan and the reality.
The plan was to have a nostalgic crossing of Lake Windermere on the chain pulled car ferry.
Nostalic because in about 1984 when we did the crossing our car on the ferry was parked next to a van belonging to South Lakeland Holiday Timeshare. The driver gave us a leaflet and this led to our owning for one week each year the top two floors of a large Edwardian House near the shore on the south west corner of Lake Windermere. For 20 years we spent the week including New Year’s Day in this lovely part of the country. A good start to each year.
Back to today. The forecast sun did not arrive so instead we went for coffee at the Windermere Jetty Boat Museum. Main blip shows the entrance and first extra shows the grey conditions over the lake.
Then to Holehird Gardens. Three more extras show flowering Bougainvillea and two nice succulents.
