BARTON GRANGE
We decided to get up early and go to Barton Grange Garden Centre today to get there before it got busy. On the way out we posted our Christmas cards out - just a few ones that need to be weighed now and that's it all done - yeah!!!
We got stuck in long tailback due to temporary 4-way roadworks, but that delayed us by about 20 minutes.
We'd hard that the Christmas lights were good this year so went to see for ourselves. Well I have to say we were disappointed. To be fair aisles that sell the Christmas baubles were set up beautifully, for me the best being The Nutcracker Shop (see Extras). However before covid they used to have the huge hall that sold the Christmas trees set up with with great lights, displays etc but that was totally lacking. These three yeti were the only things that gave it a Christmas feel to me. I guess if you have toddlers and go to Santa's Grotto that would be fine.
Still we had a lovely late breakfast and coffee in The Willows Restaurant. Then I went around and bought a few Christmas decorations to replace some that I've had to throw out.
Hubby went and bought himself something from the Garden Centre section. We paid at the tills, then hubby told me I should go back to see the yeti (as in main blip) as if you press the button they sing, so we did and we arrived at the same time as a lot of toddlers. That was fun to see their faces made the Christmas feel so that was good.
Whilst at the Yeti section my sister phoned to say they were in Barton Grange to with her boyfriend and Mum. So we went back to the restaurants (the self service Riverside Cafe this time) just for a coffee and a chat wit them, which was really lovely.
We then came home, being prepared for that hold up again, but they were just taking them down so we sailed through and arrived home withi the hour, so that was great.
A lovely day, even if the Christmas display did disappoint a bit.
That's all for now - do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
