Sanderling

This is a sanderling, Calidris alba that I found hanging out with a group of turnstones.

They are usually seen in small groups on sandy/silty shores running in unison back and forth at the water's edge as the waves come and go.

I found this one near Seafield Tower, Kirkcaldy on a pebbly beach and scavenging amongst the washed up seaweed with other waders.
