Celebrating St. Francis Xavier
The roads looked fine so we headed to Mass, giving ourselves extra time just in case we encountered a problem. We did not. December 3rd is the feast of St. Francis Xavier, a wonderful missionary. He served mainly in Asia, spending most of his time in Portuguese India, Borneo and Japan. He is the patron saint of the church we attend when in WV. It is also the First Sunday of Advent; the priest blessed the wreath and lit the first candle. After Mass, each attendee was given a bag of cookies and token gift from the parish. That is what I like about this parish. It has not lost its old traditions charm. Hubby took me to our favorite department store where I purchased more stocking stuffers and the gift I will take to the KofC Christmas party. We went to a new restaurant for a late breakfast and feasted on pancakes. We picked up a few groceries and headed back to the farm. We stopped at the neighbor’s to see if any of our packages had arrived. They had not. We chatted for awhile to be polite. When we had everything put away, it was time to make dinner. I am trying a new recipe: Philly cheesesteak casserole. They did not provide measurements for the spices. I may have gone heavy on something spicy…. Wishing you success with any new endeavor you try this week. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “The better friends you are, the straighter you can talk, but while you are only on nodding terms, be slow to scold.” - St. Francis Xavier
