Ooooooooo-llllllllaaaaaaaaaa
The whole reason we were in London this weekend was to visit The War of the Worlds: The Immersive Experience. It was originally a birthday present I think at least last year but various things have put it off until now.
The day started with a bit of a lie-in, a novelty in itself, before checking out and heading off in search of breakfast. We found Liz's Café for the desired brunch of Egg Royal and coffee.
Set for the rest of the day we headed off for a spot of Christmas shopping then over to Spitalfields for more Christmas browsing...and first mulled wine of the season.
Over to Leadenhall Street for the main event which was amazing! Right from the start with the theming in the bar* and the sensory cocktails*. The event itself was essentially a multitude of interactive mini-plays with actors walking you through the whole story for nearly two hours with sets based on various bits of the musical, sensory effects, climbing through windows, virtual reality, a slide, an interval 'red weed survivors' bar -where it would have been rude to not have another cocktail, and commemorative green-screen photos at the end. It really was well worth it.
Once we'd 'escaped' the Martian invasion we took a detour through Covent Garden to soak up the Christmas atmosphere (along with everybody else) before heading to Euston and the train home...to then get Christmas decorations from the attic and set up the boys' advent calendars ready for tomorrow. That done it was on to the farm to collapse into bed to be there for Owen when he woke up.
A bit of a busy one to say the least.
