If you can't beat them...

Male Chaffinch ( Fringilla coelebs )

I almost titled this "incoming".  The shot is of a "scoppie" (back into my native tongue) momentarily perched before making a dash for the feeders.

Today was the village "Frost Fair", that is a sla eof good and any other fund raising ideas folk come in as well as a cafe serving light lunches and coffee and cake.  The fair is organised by "friends of St Andrew's Church".  Clickychick and I had volunteered to help.  I was destined for washing up!  When we arrived I wasn't needed the village hall now has a dishwasher.  So I headed home leaving CC to be a general dogsbody and of course photographer.  Returning for lunch I stayed to help at the end, only to discover there was nothing to do.  The film club are running tonight and so the tables and chairs were needed so no packing up to do.

The Chaffinch was another "just in case" shot.  They are another species in decline with a 22% drop since 1967.  Chaffinch are distributed virtually all over the British Isles with only a handful of mainland tetrads not occupied.
