After a bright start the day turned dull.   Mum's day followed a similar pattern, a cheerful greeting this morning but she was asleep in her chair soon after breakfast.  She did make it to the front room to eat lunch but was very happy to retire to a recliner there straight afterwards.  Mostly she then slept with short periods of wakefulness.  We had a video chat with Mum's sister before tea, a very long time indeed since I saw my Auntie Chris, who lives in the South of France but Mum had caught up with her earlier in the year when she was visiting the UK.   Some lively moments in the chat but mum wanted sleep more than food afterwards.   A little soup and then the carers helped her to her bed for an early night.

B went home for a well earned rest this afternoon having arrived as Mum was off to hospital a week ago.  The rest of us are tired, caring is both physically and emotionally tiring.

I missed my blip opportunity when walking Meg in the park this morning so it's an emergency blip.   As always in this house, there is something which sparks a memory.  This is a panel in a wardrobe door in the room where I sleep.  The wardrobe was my Nanna's, I remember it from when I stayed in her flat as a boy.  I used to spend weekends with her and can remember too, sitting atop a stool in her kitchen, my feet  swinging high above the floor, watching her cooking.  I have that stool in my own kitchen now.
