A Winter String Of Bulbs, Wrotham
My brother's ankle is still giving him quite bit of pain so we decided on just a short visit to the village of Wrotham. Even though it is only about eight miles away I'd never been there before (my brother had briefly visited it a couple of years ago) and it looked absolutely delightful in the gorgeous winter sunshine. It was quite a bit smaller than I imagined (the mainline train station, with direct access to London Victoria, is confusingly called Borough Green & Wrotham) but still has two pubs, an hotel and a village shop. The main image was taken on The High Street where they had started to put up their Christmas lights. The man with the white hair walked into my frame and there was my shot. I really loved how the strong winter sunshine hit the side of this white rendered building, it really seemed as if it was glowing. The lighting theme carries on in the extra - again the bulbs in this street lamp stood out so beautifully. Funnily enough, while we walked through the churchyard we came across a villager who was just about to begin setting up even more of their Christmas lights.
