A tale as old as time…

The woodcutter’s clearing.  Well, apart from the chainsaw, the florry jackets and the safety helmet.  Walked up to the chestnut part of the plantation and they are coppicing it all to make these fence poles.  All the locals have been saying it’s good to keep making use of this area and that the patch of soon to be fully denuded trees will come back more like the ones in the picture above in two or three years.

Woke to heavy frost and that kind of blue-lemony sunrise through cloud that reminded me of mornings in Norway. So the walk through the woods was a delight.  The sun shone on all day although there was evidence of the flooding having come down the side of our gravel drive.

Worked in the barn, did a couple of calls and went to Petersfield.  Felt by the end of the day that I’d got a lot done.   V got back from another trip to Tonbridge and was exhausted by the driving so we had a quiet evening.  Fast day completed successfully.
