The tip trip and the whole bowl
A day off! While the heavy frost of last night burned off a little bit this morning I had a lazy time and drank tea. Then it was time to get outside with the hedgetrimmer. It was actually a really nice morning, and within the hour I had tidied up the last of the trees at the front of my house. It's a bit taller than the others and needs a stepladder, and ideally long legs and long arms too. I can understand why it used to be cut into a strange, flat topped shape, but I thought it looked terrible. It's had several years to recover and is a favourite of the pigeons who nest inside.
After a lazy lunch Mum and Dad came round and we went to the tip with the spoils of the tree trimming: three half-filled dumpy bags. I could carry one, possibly two on my bike trailer with some strategic ratchet strapping but I think I would need all day to make two trips.
A casualty this afternoon was one of my bowls. Naturally, rather than throw it out I'd first have a go at mending it, along with the plate I broke weeks ago. For a change from Araldite, which takes entire days to harden properly, I used Loctite epoxy steel that goes off within a few minutes. When the spout of the old kettle fell off I used the epoxy steel to reattach it, and it outlasted the rest of the thing! So, let's see how pottery fares.
