Hot Topic!

There's a hot topic around these parts at the moment and the topic is...gritting!

It was announced that the local council, Calderdale, were going to be removing an enormous number of roads from the list of those which are gritted during the winter. The list was published ahead of this new scheme being rolled out at the start of December.

This caused widespread outrage as people panicked as to how they would be able to access the larger main roads that would continue to be gritted. Petitions appeared online and there was generally a huge backlash.

People power appears to have won the day as on Monday it was announced...the proposal has been reversed and the council will instead find other ways of saving money.

So there we have it, and based on the amount of grit on the roads this morning their isn't a shortage of it. I think I could've built a sandcastle in it!!
