Just missed the sunset

With the string of westerlies we've had recently, colourful skies have been plentiful, both morning and night. I captured a few nice shots this morning on our regular walk up the hill, but nearly missed tonight's sky entirely. I just managed a few shots with the telephoto before the light disappeared completely. This one has Christchurch City lights in the foreground.

The problem was that I sat in front of the computer to catch up on a few things. I hardly ever use facebook, but decided it was about time I looked up Caryn Hill, the photographer who led my storm chase tour a month or so ago. So instead of looking at what was happening outside, I was looking at her magnificent 'weather' shots, lightning, storm clouds, tornadoes and auroras. Great stuff, but I could have left it til later!
