Ang ku kueh mould
This brass mould is something I cherish. It’s a traditional Chinese mould I found in an antique store in Singapore, it’s a mould for red tortoise sweet dumplings with a red bean paste filling . These are eaten at special occasions like at a baby’s birth or at Chinese New Year. The tortoise shape is to promise longevity for the new born baby or for those who eat it during Chinese New Year, as tortoises are known to live very long lives.
For today’s MonoMonday theme of ‘something we cherish’ with thanks to jensphotos for hosting this month.
Thanks very much for the kind comments and stars for yesterday’s Blip
