Is There a Pattern?
Today was Fibonacci Day (1–1–2–3……) and I really wanted to do something so clever that it would be remembered forever by everyone who saw it. But I didn’t. I didn’t slice a pineapple, or steam some romanesco, or stare in awe at a sunflower. Because I completely forgot.
The excitement was going to the local movie theater for the Met Live in HD* performance of Tosca, which drowned me in lush passionate music, and then we had a lovely spicy Mexican hot chocolate afterward, called Frieda—piled with whipped cream and garnished with a ladyfinger. The server asks “Whipped cream, yes or no?” Can there really be a need for such a question?
* We can walk to town, and for $25 (a lot for a movie ticket, but not so much for an opera), we can see a live streaming of an opera from the Met. There are fabulous close-ups of the performers, glimpses of the workings backstage during intermission, interviews with some of the stars, and of course the world-class performance itself. Highly recommended!
