Turkey Day
A surprising number of people dressed as turkeys and/or pumpkins was out for a walk by the ocean this morning. I’m not sure if these two are animal or vegetable or a hybrid, but they were very enthusiastic about dressing up for the holiday. Is this a thing??
This area was heavily damaged in last winter’s storms. There is a big project on the other side of the chain link fence—removing dirt, adding rocks, building a massive concrete retaining wall—all to protect the coastline against further erosion. Car traffic on this section of the road is limited to immediate residents; pedestrians, skateboarders and cyclists who normally have a dedicated path have to pay attention and share the space. Through traffic has been rerouted for months, causing much anger and frustration and impatience in the neighborhood. None of that will end very soon, as this project is as massive as the boulders they haul in from who knows where.
We had a low key day today. Our celebration will be next week when more family members are available. Plenty to be thankful for.
