Weird Weather

Three days ago it was -2.7C at 8am and this morning at 6:30am it was 15.3C, 18 degrees higher! The top temperature was around 18C today - towards the end of November! Not much rain today, but the gusts of wind have been around 50mph for 24 hours now. We had a short power cut. Holt is on a hill, and the wind overnight was so strong and noisy that I only got about 2 hours sleep. One of the large branches came down off a tree in the field next to me overnight. When I drove in to town this morning for a paper, there was bits of debris around and barriers and road signs had moved. The large Xmas market at Pensthorpe was cancelled, but a smaller one has been arranged for Dec 8th. But we got off very lightly compared to other parts of the country, in particular the flooding in South Wales. This afternoon I collected 4 large compost bags of compacted fallen leaves after the wind had conveniently blown them into a corner next to fences, other than that I just read the paper, did some jigsaw and watched a film. It’s looking much better tomorrow, so if I get some sleep tonight I’ll drive over to see the seals tomorrow.
