Dignified

42. A dignified age, I think.

We kicked off with granola, yogurt and fresh fruit including coconut off the beach, strong Kenyan coffee and swims in the pool and ocean.

In the afternoon at low tide we picked along the jagged rocks, avoiding urchins, to the ‘Africa Pool’, a tidal pool with an outline resembling the shape of the continent (with some creative interpretation). The local Beach Management Unit (BMU), a common term for local organisations with interests in sustainable fishing and coastal eco-tourism, has set up a small business guiding people at the Africa Pool, making the most of their natural assets. We enjoyed our visit and the subsequent scramble up the cliff face for the slightly elevated walk back along the coast.

Some bubbly on the terrace in the evening heat and the delightful company of Michelle to ring in the passing of another year.
