Reprise
It turned out that the alarming rush of noise I heard in the night was snow falling off the steep roof - this morning everything was shrouded in snow-cloud.
I'd never heard of Hébert but down the mountains in Grenoble a group of us went to the house he used to live in, now housing a museum of his paintings and a few of those of some of his contemporaries. Our guide was a choir member, with whom I've stayed previously and she kindly took me back to her house in the lovely Chartreuse mountains for a leisurely lunch. I am being exceptionally well-fed and under-exercised but we did go for a short walk round her village before driving back into Grenoble for this evening's rehearsal.
I've just realised I've done this before, but with the light changing all the time, the photos are never the same.
