It's Happened Again .....
Storm Bert has wreaked havoc in the Calder Valley (there were big floods on Boxing Day 2015 and Storm Clara did the damage in 2020)
The main A646 is flooded at numerous points and many roads leading down into the valley are just torrents of water. You can neither get into nor out of Hebden Bridge centre at the moment.
The rapid rise in temperature has melted all the snow and the heavy rain has washed everything down into the valley bottom.
Fortunately we're okay where we are - the water runs past us down into Hebden Water which flows into the River Calder.
£41 million has been spent on flood alleviation work in Mytholmroyd - the work for the Hebden Bridge scheme is due to start next year.
Lets hope the damage will not be as bad as the past two events.
UPDATE: Rain has stopped which will allow the river levels to go down - but more heavy rain forecasted for tomorrow morning....
